The Internet of Things (IoT) is connecting us all. We should connect in person, in the real world, as well as digitally! During this event we will have great speakers guiding us through different use cases in a panel on how IoT is affecting our world today. Questions that will be answered during this talk: What effect will the internet of things have on our daily lives? How does IoT apply to business? How can we connect objects?

Prof. David Atienza Alonso
Prof. Alonso leads the Embedded Systems Laboratory (ESL) at EPFL. He is an expert on the next-generation embedded systems for the Internet of Things, working for last 10 years on smart wearables both for humans and a wider range of other objects including cars. He focuses on how these objects can interact with each other to create new business opportunities – helping businesses be ready for these opportunities. His expertise also covers 2D/3D thermal modeling and management for multiprocessor system-on-chip, electronic design automation, wireless body sensor networks, memory optimizations, low-power hardware and software co-design. He has received several awards in these areas and since 2016 he is an IEEE Fellow and a Distinguished Member of ACM.
Anne-Sophie Golsong Roodsdorp
Anne-Sophie Golsong graduated at EPFL in Microtechnique. Currently she is the Marketing Director at Leybold Schweiz and CEO of Fingerpin, a development company for Fingerprint solutions that focus on sensors and identification algorithms. She also worked as Sales & Marketing director at Cirorel SA and as Product manager and international sales manager at Cerberus (Siemens).
Marco Magatti is Head of New Product Innovation & Design at Nespresso. He has expertise in connected devices (IoT) innovation and product & service invention. He has several patented inventions and in 2017 he won the Gold Design Awards for the launch of Nespresso Expert.
And of course not forgetting our MC Beatrice Scarioni, who is Head of Social Impact at the Vice-Presidency for Innovation (VPI), EPFL.
